It’s a beauty!

Another nice find on a cold morning!

My finds from yesterday.

Golf balls, and antler and a bison skull. On almost every trip out no matter where I go I find a golf ball. Golf ball pollution is real folks!🤠

Fossil Bison Skull Found! Part 2

Fossil Bison skull found! Part !

After a bit of an absence due to a family emergency I managed to get out on the river for a couple of days. Yesterday I found my first bison skull of the year. This was found in western Iowa and just after the break up of the ice so the water was cold. I Kayak the rivers and during this time of the year I wear chest waders to insulate myself from the freezing water but it is sometimes a challenge with leaks. The videos of the bison skull recovery are in two parts because I had to put my phone down in order to dig it out of the river bed. At some point I am going to have to figure out a very light tripod or some similar way to focus my phone on a recovery.

Breaking ice and a bison skull

Flashback Sunday. It’s a rainy and very windy day so I think it’s a good time to post a video of a find I made two years ago. Thinking this skull would have had a span of 26” if it wasn’t broken. The boney eye sockets also protrude further than most modern bison bison. Here’s to warmer days and some great bones this summer!

Crab Boil!

We had a bit of a party with red drum on the half shell and fresh caught blue crab. A little Whistle Pig and an Acid 50 ring cigar to top it off. Hadn’t had an evening with good friends like that in 10 yrs.

Hope y’all are having a great day!

Jet Propulsion Mokai Kayaks

We began using these kayaks a few years ago but found that the intake will pick up gravel and debris in shallow water so we kept them for one summer and sold them.

Caught a nice Redfish today.

Ancient bison!

This is one of the first ancient bison skeletons that my sons and I found. The bones were like potato chips. This we have discovered through the years is very common if the bones were not preserved in clay.
